Group A: Black Canyon
The Black Canyon, or Nakik Shachor, is a section of Nachal Zavitan located in the Yehudiya Nature Reserve, with a series of waterfalls that can only be traversed by rappelling. This is an unmarked hike in a closed national park, reserved for groups led by licensed tour guides only and restricted to ages 10+. Entry to this trail is by advance arrangement only, and registration at the nature reserve offices is required. The Black Canyon is full of water; ninety percent of this hike is near or in water. On our private tour, we will hike in this deep canyon of volcanic stone through rough brush, over large rocks, and in ankle to knee-deep water for a day of adventure. Be prepared to test your limits. Swimming and rappelling are required. You need to be in good shape, but the good news is that the hike is 85 percent downhill.
We will need to leave the hotel at 7:15AM to make it in time for entry as the gates will close at 8AM. Breakfast will be open at 7AM. We will be carrying water and packed lunches on the hike. Please bring towels and a change of clothes to leave on the bus. You will get wet so dress appropriately. Closed-toe shoes with no holes are strictly required and this requirement is enforced by the park rangers (no sandals, Crocs, flimsy water-shoes or Keens…sorry). See below for the specific instructions received. We expect to be back at the hotel between 3 and 4PM, depending on our pace and how much time is spent swimming, eating, and resting.
Group B: Golan Heights Jeep Tour
For those not joining the Black Canyon hike, do not worry. Your start time will be later, but there is still a fun-filled day planned for you, too! You will take a jeep tour in the southern Golan Heights with exhilarating steep ascents and descents through the mountains. Along the route, you will drive through running streams and have panoramic views of the Kinneret and the spectacular Galilee landscape. The jeeps will make stops for refreshments and treats, and there will be the opportunity to stop for a dip in the cool fresh water.

BBQ on Army Base with Soldiers
Location: Near Eliad, southern Ramat HaGolan
Join us as we host a BBQ on an army base to show appreciation for the brave soldiers stationed up north. These heroes stand on the front lines, protecting our country and keeping our people safe. Let's unite in gratitude, honoring their service and sacrifice with a delicious meal and a heartfelt thank you.
UPDATE:
We will be visiting a Golani base in the south of Ramat HaGolan and hosting about 100 soldiers. The commander has been searching for someone to organize an event for them for a while since not many people visit the north, so they are very excited.
The Golani Brigade was founded on February 22nd, 1948, three months before the founding of the State of Israel. It is considered the first combat brigade of the IDF and was initially stationed in the valleys and hills of the Lower Galilee in northern Israel. Its first soldiers included members of the Haganah, residents who lived in the areas of combat, and enlisted men from all over the country. During the War of Independence, the Golani Brigade was deployed despite a shortage of arms and manpower. New arrivals to the budding State of Israel were immediately added to the unit and joined its troops in securing Israel’s statehood.
Recognized by their brown beret and their rectangular unit tags, the soldiers of the Golani Brigade have earned a reputation as elite fighters. As one of the IDF’s most highly decorated infantry units, the Golani Brigade is often one of the first brigades to be called to reserve duty. Golani soldiers have fought in all of Israel’s wars and almost all of its major operations. They marked a number of successes on the battlefield, including combat in the War of Independence, the Yom Kippur War, Operation Entebbe, and the Second Lebanon War, Operation Cast Lead in 2008 and Operation Protective Edge in 2014.
The unit paid a heavy toll in the October 7 attack, which killed more than 70 of its members. Since then, its soldiers have been on the front line of the campaign against Hamas in the south and Hezbollah in the north.
