Ancient Shiloh
Located in the hill country of Samaria, Shiloh served as the religious capital of Israel before Jerusalem, housing the Mishkan and the Ark for nearly 400 years (Joshua 18:1). Shiloh was where the Israelites gathered annually to worship and offer sacrifices (1 Samuel 1). It was here that the young Samuel had his calling as a prophet (1 Samuel 3). However, Shiloh was eventually destroyed for the sins of Eli's household (Jeremiah 7:12), leading to the Ark's relocation. Though just ruins remain today, Shiloh's ancient legacy echoes through these renowned scriptural events.

Rafting on the Jordan River
After Shiloh, we will make our way towards the Galil. On our way up, we will stop along the Jordan river, just south of the Kinneret for a rafting activity. Not sure how it will compare to Auntie Or’s kayaks, but hopefully it’s good enough.

After rafting we will shower, change and head straight to dinner.

Dinner at Decks
Hosted by Uncle Joey and Auntie Beth and Uncle Dave and Auntie Eva in honor of Joey’s Bar Mitzvah and in memory of Grandpa Salomon
Decks comes highly recommended by Abie Dayan and we expect this to be the highlight of his trip. The restaurant is located on the shores of the Kinneret and the incredible food will only be matched by the even more incredible view.

Check-in at David’s Harp Hotel
After dinner, we will continue along the shores of the Kinneret to our hotel in Kfar Nachum, or Capernaum. The ancient fishing village of Capernaum is situated on the northern shores of the Kinneret and served as an important ministry base for JC. Referred to as "his own city", Capernaum is where JC is said to have performed many miracles and taught in the synagogue. The remains of this synagogue, where JC preached and healed can still be explored today.

There is a famous story in the New Testament about how after miraculously feeding a huge crowd of 5,000 men with only five loaves of bread and two fish, JC sent his disciples ahead of him by boat towards Capernaum. During the night, the disciples' boat was caught in a storm. JC walked across the water out to the boat and the storm ceased. We plan on taking the bus, but if there is traffic, we may try out an alternative mode of transportation. (Hyperlinks available upon request.)

When we arrive, we will unload the bus and check in. The hotel is brand new, having its soft opening just a couple of months ago. It is so new, you cannot even find it on Google Maps, but we’ve been assured it is actually there. Thank you Grandpa Joey for the tip!
